So here’s my review… I can’t believe that just happened! Does she really think anyone is going to fall for that? Oh crap! And the statement that pretty much sums it up…. Authors are truly evil! How’s that? Hmm… I guess you probably want more out of a review than that don’t you? Okay, if you insist, but really, all you need to know is that this book changes everything, and not in a good way. Not. At. All.You’d think by now that things would have settled down for Gin. Then again, probably not. Trouble seems to follow Gin where ever she goes – and if it doesn’t follow her, she goes after it. Especially when that trouble is a threat to anyone in her family. Salina was all that and more. Mab was bad enough, but I think Salina was even worse. On the surface she was a Southern Belle who only wanted to come home, take her rightful place at the home that she had once lost and rekindle the romance of her one true love. On the inside she was a vengeful, powerful elemental who showed no mercy. Not even a little. I knew she was going to be trouble from the first time she was introduced but I had no idea how much trouble. It would have been fine if she would have kept her threats to the underworld as part of her power struggle. but Salina made it personal in a big way and that forced Gin to take a stand.I know I’m being kind of vague, but I really, really don’t want to give anything away. I think readers pretty much know where this book is going. Trust me, even if you think you’ve got it figured out, you have no idea the torment that these characters go through. I wanted to strangle more than one of them, but it would have been useless. They were pretty much in a no win situation. It’s one of those things that you see coming. You want to scream and yell and throw something at them, but in the end you just end up crying right along with them because you are as heart broken as they are. (And for the record ‘yelling’ at the author via twitter only helps a little bit )Despite all the bad stuff, Widow’s Web was still full of awesome. Jo Jo was just as motherly as always. Sophia was her quiet, supportive self. Finn pulled ‘big brother’ more than once. The relationship between Bria and Gin was going strong and getting stronger. Roslyn was turning into an even better friend and there were even a few new and interesting characters thrown into the mix.I think what I liked best about Widow’s Web is that despite what Gin felt and how very personal this was, she still stuck to her code. It nearly broke her, but she didn’t back down. She’s not perfect and she’s definitely no angel but she’s true to who she is and family is first. The end of this one pretty much did me in, but there’s hope… Jo Jo said it so it has to be true. I doubt if things will be resolved with Deadly Sting, but I still can’t wait to get my hands on it. Things can’t get worse, right?
