After the cliff hanger that readers were left with at the end of Glass Houses, how could I not pick up The Dead Girls’ Dance? That was pure torture! Thankfully, the second installment takes up exactly where the first leaves off. I’m not going to spoil either book for anyone so you’re just going to have to trust me. That’s a very good thing!The Dead Girls’ Dance reveals a lot about several of the characters that we met in Glass Houses, plus a few new ones. The reader learns a lot about what makes these people who they are. Some are kind of surprising. A few mysteries are solved, but just as many are added. There is a lot of action, romance, tension and pain. Lots and lots of pain – some physical, but most is the emotional variety. There were tears in this one guys. I totally didn’t expect them, but they were unavoidable. Some were shed for unexpected characters too, but most were shed for Shane. *sigh* My heart literally broke for him in this book.Along with the back story of the characters involved, new characters are introduced. The jury’s still out for me on who some of the bad guys are because the players keep changing. You literally never know who is going to do what and where new allies or enemies are going to come from. Major decisions are made by a couple of characters that will change things for themselves along with everyone around them. All in all, there is plenty in this book to keep the pages turning. I really can’t wait to see what happens next.As I mentioned in my review of Glass Houses, I bought the first two books as part of Volume I in The Morganville Vampires Series. To make it easier to review, I split them up. I might have also mentioned that I was bullied into reading the Morganville Vampire Series by Hannah at Once Upon a Time. True to any bully’s form, even though I caved and began the series, she’s still pushing me to read the rest. I can’t say that I blame her. So, I’m sure she will be happy to know that I will picking up Volume 2 soon. Although this one didn’t end in a cliff hanger that was as tormenting as Glass Houses, there is definitely a lot more to come.
